Preston North End 2
Shrewsbury Town 1

Venue: Lancashire Constabulary Headquarters, Hutton
Kick Off: 1030

They say it's the sign of a good team when they win even if they have played poorly, and that was certainly the case today as far as are were concerned. I don't know what was up with us? We arrived on time we prepared right but for some reason it just didn't happen. Saying that at 2-0 in front we were quite comfortable but we gave them an easy goal half way through the second half and from then on it was all Shrewsbury. In the end we were struggling to clear our lines and how the Ref did not give Shrewsbury Town a penalty only he can answer that one

Credit must go to Shrewsbury Town for the way they battled to the end and I don't think anybody would have complained if they had taken a share of the spoils, especially in the last 15 mins when they threw the kitchen sink at us. But in the end it's us that took the points. We now look forward to another battle next week as we travel to Watford to take on the league leaders.

Thanks again to all the squad for their efforts and I was really chuffed we managed to give everybody a game. It's not easy trying to get everybody on the pitch and maybe it was all that chopping and changing that upset our rhythm but either way the credits belong to Shrewsbury Town! They never gave up and played the game in the right spirt even though they had the most blatant penalty decision go against them.

The view from Shrewsbury Town:

Fantastic game played in top spirits throughout. A big thanks to Steve for sorting the pitch and referee etc. and we look forward to a re-match at some point in the future.

Just a shame STFC's game at Morecambe was called off late in the day!
